Visiting Ohio Caverns

Ohio Caverns was a part of my childhood.  Family reunions and church picnics were held on the grounds and, even as a child, I was given the freedom to explore anywhere as long as I stayed within the park.  The Ohio Caverns was like many local attractions - many locals didn't visit very often.  When I did get the chance to tour the caverns, it was like entering a magic kingdom.  The stalactites, stalagmites and colorful deposits left by minerals transformed the cave into a place of true beauty.  It is a place where I learned what total darkness is like.  (No, they don't make you take the tour in the dark.)  Recently, it was truly exciting for me to take a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old on the tour - to see the cave again after many years and to see it again through the eyes of children.
