Beartooth Road

We explored Beartooth Road northeast of Yellowstone National Park because Charles Kuralt, an American journalist, once said it was "the most beautiful drive in America".  Indeed, it is beautiful, and perhaps seemed more beautiful because we traveled it in late September when the fall colors were emerging.  However, I'm sure it would be beautiful in any season of the year - - if you could get through.  At 11,000 feet in altitude, the weather is a little different in the middle than at the beginning and the end of the road.  There are beautiful vistas with views for miles and then there are unique sights which are right under one's nose.  I agree with Charles Kuralt, at least in part:  It is one of the most beautiful drives in America.
